A Tailor-Made Experience, Designed Just for You

This itinerary is not a brochure or a fixed tour.
It’s a bespoke travel concept, created around your interests, your pace, and the way you want to experience Spain.

Every detail you’ll see in the following pages — from the route and hotels to the guides and experiences — has been selected to create a trip that feels effortless, immersive, and quietly exceptional.

general icon

What This Journey Is (and Isn’t)

This is not about seeing everything.
It’s about seeing the right things — at the right moment, in the right way.

Your trip prioritises:

  • Comfort without excess

  • Depth over rushing

  • Local insight over tourist crowds

  • Seamless logistics, so you can stay present and relaxed

You’ll notice a thoughtful balance of private and shared experiences, carefully chosen to enhance both authenticity and value — never at the expense of quality.

general icon

Designed Around Your Pace

We believe luxury is time — time to linger, to savour, and to enjoy each place without feeling hurried.

That’s why this itinerary:

  • Avoids unnecessary hotel changes

  • Minimises long travel days

  • Allows space for spontaneity and personal moments

  • Can be adjusted at any point before final confirmation

If something feels too full or too light, we refine it together.

general icon

Why This Experience Is Different

We don’t build trips from templates.

We work with:

  • Trusted local guides we know personally

  • Boutique and luxury hotels chosen for atmosphere as much as comfort

  • Experiences that offer access and context, not just photo stops

Behind the scenes, we manage timing, reservations, and logistics so everything flows naturally — and you never feel rushed or overwhelmed.

general icon

A Starting Point — Not a Final Draft

Think of this itinerary as a conversation starter.

Nothing here is locked in yet.

  • Experiences can be added, removed, or replaced

  • Pace can be adjusted

  • Hotels can be upgraded or simplified

Your feedback is essential — this is how a good itinerary becomes a truly memorable journey.

The Goal

Our goal is simple:

That when you look back on this trip, you don’t remember the planning —
you remember how easy it felt, how well cared for you were, and how deeply you connected with Spain.

We look forward to refining this journey with you.

Coming Home — A Family Roots Journey Through Northern Spain image

About this trip

There's a moment on this trip that no tour brochure can quite prepare you for — rolling into Cudillero, the village where your mother was born, its brightly painted houses tumbling down the hillside toward the harbour, the smell of the Atlantic salt air hanging over everything, the sound of gulls and the distant crash of waves. For the nine of you, that won't just be sightseeing — it'll be something deeply personal, the kind of quiet, emotional moment that a family carries home forever. Along the way you'll taste your way through the Basque Country's legendary pintxos bars, feel the sharp Atlantic wind on the cliffs above San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, and pour your first glass of Asturian cider the way locals do — held high above your head, letting it crash into the glass below to unlock its full flavour.

And then the journey south, unhurried and comfortable with your private driver handling every mile, stopping in León where a local guide will walk all nine of you through one of Spain's most underrated cathedral cities and into the lively "Barrio Húmedo" — where every drink comes with a free tapa, and locals name their favourite bars not by what they're called but by what they serve. By the time you arrive in Madrid you'll have crossed a country, traced a family story, eaten extraordinarily well, and laughed more than you expected — and that's exactly the kind of trip that only happens when everything is designed just for you.

Free Time in Bilbao

Bilbao PV, Bilbao, Spain
Duration5 hours

“The city of the Guggenheimˮ is an alternative name for this Basque Country destination as, since this original museum was built in 1997, Bilbao has been transformed forever. In fact, now it stands out for its groundbreaking structures created by prestigious architects, and which make it an international reference for modern design.

Use the day to visit the Guggenheim, walk the old quarter and the so called "seven streets" full of bars where to enjoy delicious pintxos, walk along the estuary and see the many bridges crossing the city, see the soccer stadium called the "cathedral", get to know the Deusto university, go to Get and see the Hanging Bridged, the oldest in Europe still in use...

Llanes

Llanes is a perfect example of a historic town. Its old town centre is an official historic and artistic heritage site, with interesting civil, religious and military architecture.

Its most important areas are around Paseo de San Pedro, Paseo de San Antón, the river Carrocedo and the harbour - it was once an important part of the fishing and whaling industries. Its heritage buildings include 300 metres of city walls, dating from the 13th century; the castle tower; the Basilica of Santa María del Conceyu, which was begun in the mid-12th century; Gaztañaga palace and the palace of the Dukes of Estrada, and the house of the 19th-century politician Posada Herrera, now the Municipal Cultural Centre.

Gijón

Drive to Gijón along the coast and don't miss amazing coastal villages in your way such as Ribadesella, Lastres (one of the most beautiful villages in the coast), Tazones (my favorite) and any other you may want just by leaving th highway at any point.

Free Time in Gijón

Gijón AS, Gijón, Spain

The old quarter of Gijon is a must - see. It is full of narrow street where you'll find tens of local restaurants called "sidrerias" (cider houses). Its beach promenade (more than 7km long) is a great way to spend the morning or afternoon while enjoying great views over the sea. The "elogio del horizonte", a large stone sculpture in the upper part of the old quarter, offers views to both sides of the city and you'll be able to see the 2 main beaches in town, San Lorenzo (where the beach path finishes in a wonderful church) and El Arbeyal, just beside the port where great cruises stop.

TIP: If you go in the middle of this sculpture you'll hear the waves crashing against the cliffs.

Do not miss some local food such as the "fabada" (stew made of big white beans with chorizo, black pudding and bacon), the "cachopo" (a giant breaded fillet steak filled with serrano ham and cheese) or the rice pudding as dessert.

And, of course, the local drink, the cider, poured in the traditional way, putting the bottle over the head and letting the cider fall to crash in the glass placed under your hip. This way of serving the cider changes its flavor completely.

4,5 hours

In stead of making a one day tour to Burgos from Bilbao, I suggest you to make a stop in León, a monumental city similar to Burgos, with an mazing gothic cathedral, similar to the one in Burgos, but less well known and where tapas is a local thing. You get a free tapa (small portion of food) with every drink you ask for in a bar. Locals don't know the names of the bars but the tapas they give on them (let's go to the croquette, or let's go to the bravas place...)

Private city tour of Leon

León CL, León, Spain
Duration2,5 - 3 hours

Get to know León with a private local guide.

This bi-millenial monumental city, has lots of things to discover. Its small size is inversely proportional to the size of its history. You'll be taught the essential history of the city, the most important traditions and monuments in which we tell anecdotes and curiosities of the "Barrio Humedo" and Romantic Quarter (2 old quarters of the city), the essential data on the origin of the city and the history of the great monuments.

Don't miss the gothic cathedral form the XIIIth century, the basilica of San Isidoro which ceiling at the museum is considered the sistine chapel of romanic art, the Parador of San Marcos, former pilgrims hospital, 5* hotel nowadays, the Roman Wall or one of the 3 works Gaudi designed far from Cataluña, the Casa Botines.

Merge with the locals hoping from bar to bar, as they socialize, getting a free tapa (small portion of food) with every drink you ask for.

Self guided

Walk the capital of Spain. Discover its great avenues, theaters, stadiums, old quarter, shops, restaurants, green areas, the financial district and many other picturesque districts around such as La Latina, Chueca or Malasaña, to mention some, where local people (and foreigners) use to go out, hop from bar to bar and socialize.

In this city you'll find the best brand shops both in malls and in the popular Serrano street.

The Real Madrid soccer stadium is one of its main attractions. There you can get tickets to visit it together with the museum.

Some of the best museums of the world are also in Madrid. Special highlight for the Prado museum, located in one of the corners of the street with homonymous name, but it is not the only one: The ThyssenBornemisza, The Reina Sofia or the Science museums are also great options to spend some time.

Green areas like the Retiro Park are highly recommended to stroll around.

The Gran Via avenue, one of the most renowned ones in town, holds many theaters and cinemas as well as many important brand shops making of it a mandatory visit.

Information about Hidden in Spain

Why Travel With Us

If you wanted to experience truly authentic Japanese cuisine, you wouldn’t settle for a restaurant back home—you’d go to Japan. You’d walk the streets, smell the kitchens, watch the chefs at work, and taste food shaped by place, culture, and daily life. Travel works the same way.

So why trust someone far away—who may have visited Spain once or twice—to design a journey through a country they don’t live in?

We are based in Spain and travel frequently throughout Portugal. This isn’t just where we work—it’s where we live. That means your trip is shaped by real, current, lived experience, not guidebooks or recycled itineraries. We design journeys the way locals experience them: unhurried, personal, and deeply connected to place.

Yes, you’ll visit the highlights—Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Granada, Porto, Lisbon. These cities are iconic for a reason, and we make sure you experience them properly. But you won’t just “see” them. You’ll explore them with locals who know their rhythms, their stories, and their favorite corners—whether that’s a quiet plaza at sunset or a small bar serving the best patatas bravas in town.

Beyond the highlights, we take you further. To villages, landscapes, traditions, and everyday moments you won’t find in guidebooks—places only locals talk about and travelers rarely discover. That balance is what defines Hidden in Spain: the must-see icons, paired with the lesser-known places that make your trip feel truly special and different.

This is travel that feels personal, relaxed, and real—like being welcomed into a country rather than passing through it.

Why Choose Hidden in Spain

  • We are local. Based in Spain and deeply familiar with Portugal, we personally know every destination, hotel, and experience we recommend.

  • We take care of everything. From the moment you start planning until you return home—flights, transportation, hotels, experiences, and special requests are all handled seamlessly.

  • Your trip is truly tailor-made. We design each journey around your interests, pace, and travel style—no templates, no copy-paste itineraries.

  • We know the hidden places. We’ve lived here our entire lives, and we share the Spain and Portugal most travelers never see.

  • You travel informed and confident. You receive a complete, easy-to-use guide with insider tips, routes, dining suggestions, and local insights.

  • You’re never on your own. You have direct access to your personal trip manager 24/7—for support, questions, or anything unexpected along the way.

Hidden in Spain isn’t about ticking boxes. It’s about experiencing Spain and Portugal with people who know them best—and making you feel at home while you do.

Spain and Portugal are not only sand & sun. They have much more to offer. Let us show you and you will talk about us!!

And remember…Luxury isn’t about doing more.

It’s about knowing exactly where to be—and who to trust to take you there.

Who's Luis

Hidden in Spain was born from a simple idea: the most memorable journeys happen when you experience a country through the eyes of a local. After traveling extensively across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas, I realized that most trips barely scratch the surface—showing famous sights without revealing the soul of a place.

Having lived in Spain my entire life and traveled Portugal deeply, I design fully tailor-made journeys that go beyond the highlights. From iconic landmarks to hidden corners known only to locals, every detail is carefully curated to feel effortless, personal, and refined.

With a background in marketing and international sales, I combine local knowledge with a high standard of service—so your journey feels seamless, exclusive, and genuinely authentic.

When I’m not designing trips, I enjoy skiing, good conversations, time with my family… and discovering exceptional beers from around the world.
